Hotel du Vieux Quebec

The independent, extensively renovated, 45-room Hotel du Vieux Quebec (“vieux” means “old” in French) is located on rue St-Jean, approximately midway between la Port St-Jean (the St. John Gate), at one end of Quebec City’s Quartier Latin (or Latin Quarter), and Place d’Armes and the Chateau Frontenac. It is one of our very favorite hotels in the city. The customer experience is unrivaled and the rooms, bedding and the staff make it feel like a 5 start experience and s making it one of the top recommendations.

Rue St-Jean is the spine of Quebec City’s colorful Quartier Latin. The street is lined with dozens of retail stores, galleries and some of Quebec City’s trendiest restaurants. This includes Les Trois Garcons, and the Restaurant d’Orsay, two of Visit Quebec’s favorites. You can add Bistro Hortus to the list and les Freres de la Cote. The Latin Quarter is a destination unto itself.

The hotel is right around the corner from the stunning Monastère des Augustines, and a short walk out la Porte St-Jean to the large ice skating rink at picturesque Place d’Youville.(when you travel in winter) It is a gathering place for ice-skaters young and old from December to mid-March.

Explore the many shops and boutiques but also the many small side streets as well.

Visitors to Quebec can opt for a stay near Place d’Armes and the Boardwalk (Terasse Dufferin) and visiting the Latin Quarter, or to stay in the Latin Quarter and visiting Place d’Armes. This is option B, which is equally recommended.
